The adolescent high school students suffer from anxiety due to several ambiguities they encounter. Among those sources, examinations can be seen as one of the major causes of anxiety that emerges in this age group. This study discusses the notion of test anxiety within the scope of a high school that is mainly preferred by students who succeed in prior entrance examination. Furthermore, while their exam results regarding English as a foreign language courses are rather high, which indicates proficiency, research demonstrates a negative correlation between foreign language anxiety and proficiency. Thus, the current study explores test anxiety among adolescents in the scope of the English as a foreign language learning context. The study group consisted of 204 learners of English as a foreign language from all four grades in a high school. The results showed that the students suffer from a high level of test anxiety due to several reasons such as assessment system, feeling of constant unpreparedness, the structure and content of the examination, rivalry and social factors. The study ends with practical recommendations for the target group.
