The inclusion of Nature of Science (NOS) is seen as an important component in many teacher education programs. Research has shown that prospective teachers do not have enough NOS understanding and they also possess misconceptions about some NOS concepts. The purpose of the study is to evaluate a professional development (PD) course designed for teaching the NOS. The course period lasted for 14 weeks including two hours per week. Data collection tool was the teacher interview protocol developed by researchers. Content analysis method was used to examine 46 prospective teachers’ opinions through semi-structured interviews. Prospective teachers’ opinions were taken at three different times; at the beginning, middle and end of the course. As conclusion, the change in the views of teachers about the NOS has been quite positive. The PD course had positive contribution to improve prospective teachers’ NOS content knowledge and pedagogical skills. They have developed their own model of teaching NOS. In addition, they stated that they have more positive attitudes to the science and scientific knowledge with this development program. According to results in this study, this type of a course format is suggested to enhance NOS understandings of prospective teachers.
